Fran May - Album 'The Wedding Dress'

There we were, Fran and I in the years of 1976 to '78, at the Royal College of Art in London. Two girls steadfast amongst the boys with hearts set on being artists in the world of photography.

It was the punk days of the Clash, 999 and Adam and the Ants. The audacity of their sounds filled the air with colour and challenge. Music was never to be the same again.

In the Photography School we were taught to look beyond appearances, to challenge what we thought photography was: to touch centre, expressing music and emotion in the images we made.

Revolutionary days of sound and vision.

Two artists were born inside the music of the world.

Life took us separate ways: Fran took the documentary route into social landscapes and I explored the experimental world of colour and form.

We both married, created a family and raised our children: living our lives as do the many.

And then by chance we met again.

Revolutionary days.

Fran May makes art in sound and vision. 'The Wedding Dress'.

It could be mine, it could be yours.

It belongs to us all.
